Last year, we were proud to support Debra Shigley’s candidacy as she ran against an extremist anti-choice opponent who helped push the state's cruel and deadly 6-week abortion ban. This law has already caused untold harm to women, including Adriana Smith, who was declared brain dead at 8 weeks pregnant and was subsequently placed on life support for months so doctors could retrieve her baby via cesarean section.

The decision about Smith’s body was made by the Georgia state government, which consists of an almost entirely male executive branch and a state legislature that is more than 65% male.

The women of Georgia deserve so much more, and that starts with better representation in their government. That’s why we are thrilled to be supporting Debra Shigley once again as she runs for the Georgia State Senate District 21.

While this district is historically represented by Republicans, the special circumstances of this election, combined with disapproval of the current lawmakers in Georgia, put Debra in a unique position to flip this seat.
