Your dog or your home? Prince George’s County made me pick
[link removed]
by Caitrin Conroy • August 19, 2025

In 2020, my husband and I bought our first home in Prince George’s County, but beloved senior dog Poptart couldn’t be licensed there because she looked like a pit bull. We were told we had two options: “Get rid of” our beloved dog, or walk away from our home purchase and lose our life savings. The County Council could soon change that for Prince George’s pet owners.

Spending money to go nowhere: Southside Express Lanes should be a Metro extension
[link removed]
by David Edmondson (Contributor) • August 20, 2025

by Avery Smedley (Policy Intern) • August 21, 2025

I hope this snapshot can inform the debate around school boundary changes and remove credence from the immediately-plummeting-home-prices boogeyman argument. I also urge parents and students to interrogate all the reasons why they might hesitate around changes to school assignments.

A family attempts to bike to a shady pool

by Sandy Lawrence (Operations & Administration Director) • August 22, 2025

A trip to a pool by bike can be done, but it can also be fraught with barriers. Join me on my journey of navigating bike route safety, kids, pools, and urban heat islands. I promise, there’s a pool at the end.
