Precious Life protest SDLP Leader Colum Eastwood MP after he votes for abortion up to BIRTH in NI
On Friday, members of Precious Life held a protest at the Derry offices of Colum Eastwood MP. On Wednesday 17th June, the SDLP Leader voted, alongside Claire Hanna MP (SDLP) and Stephen Farry MP (Alliance) to impose abortion up to the point of birth on Northern Ireland's unborn babies.
Our protest sent out a very clear public message - Abortion not in our name - and exposed the shameful actions of the SDLP, who betrayed Northern Ireland's unborn babies; firstly, by walking out of Stormont on 21 October last year, and now, through using their power at Westminster to vote to impose abortion up to the point of birth.
Following Friday's protest, Colum Eastwood issued a statement to his constituents. Dismissing the many constituents who have been left horrified by his advocacy for abortion on demand and up to birth, Mr Eastwood's statement read:
"Please let me apologise for the inconvenience you may have experienced this afternoon after a demonstration took place outside my constituency office.
We had no warning that this demonstration by Precious Life was to take place, otherwise I would have endevoured to provide you with advanced notice."
It is very clear that Colum Eastwood MP has a strong contempt for the pro-life people of Northern Ireland who want to protect our most defenceless and voiceless citizens from the horror of abortion. The thousands of people who voted for the SDLP on the false premise that they were a pro-life party have been treated with astounding arrogance, ignorance and utter contempt.
Precious Life used the opportunity to send out a clear message - if you were one of the 26,881 people who voted for this pro-death SDLP Leader, then you need to take back your vote.
Precious Life will continue to Lobby for Life and the repeal of this law. We will persist in being the voice of the thousands of pro-life people across Northern Ireland who reject this barbaric abortion law and demand real care for mothers and babies.
Yours in Life,
The Precious Life Communications Team
