Dear VCC Community,

The American Academy of Pediatrics recently posted their top ten resolutions for the year. The AAP identified “the elimination of non-medical exemptions to vaccination” as their top priority for the year. While disturbing, it is helpful in removing the misconception that AAP-like medical societies are primarily altruistic, dedicated to the welfare of our children rather than their members. It is also helpful  in diminishing our blind faith in doctors.

A recent Brownstone essay by David Bell addresses the priorities of the AAP. He writes: “The recent publication of AAP priorities should reinforce (a) loss of trust. The AAP will almost certainly continue its path of child polypharmacy, blind adherence to protocols based on the products of their sponsors, and denigration and exclusion of the opinions of parents who recognize the stark reality of deteriorating health in North American children.”

“Parents reading the AAP’s list of priorities would be foolhardy to then entrust their children to such care. Fundamental rights of each human to make their own way in life, and protect and oversee their children, underpin any decent societal model. In fascist societies, such decisions are removed and taken into the hands of experts and authoritarian institutions. The people must simply comply as slaves. Medical professions and their academies have a long history of supporting such approaches, and the AAP seems increasingly determined to replicate that path. It should receive all the respect that such an indecent approach deserves.” 

What is at stake here is the very foundations of our society. Authoritarian societies don’t believe in individual rights. Rather, the “collective good” as defined by some authoritarian body is how decisions are made. Canada was founded on individual rights but this foundation is under serious attack by those who have been captured by the climate change ideology or fear of measles. 

We need to recognize the real threat is not climate change or vaccine exemptions, but rather our right to choose what is best for each of us and for our children. History is primarily the story of how “collective good” ends in tyranny. Individual rights is another way of organizing as a community. But if we don’t protect it, it too will succumb to the tyranny of the group.

Secretary Kennedy announced August 5: "HHS has determined that mRNA technology poses more risk than benefits" in humans for respiratory viruses, so HHS has now begun defunding the platform. 

A total of 22 mRNA vaccine development contracts totaling roughly $500 million have been canceled by HHS. The mRNA investments were part of the government's Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), a division of HHS. (2:31)
