Public Notice: Land Quality Advisory Board Meeting - September 18, 2025 10:00 a.m.

The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Land Quality Division (LQD), will hold an Advisory Board (AB) Meeting beginning at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, September 18, 2025.  The meeting will be held via video conference call.  The major items of discussion will be the presentation and scoping of new Noncoal Chapter 14 – Blasting for Noncoal Surface Mining Operations, and related revisions to Noncoal Chapters 2, 9, and 10. The proposed revisions were drafted in response to a 2024 House Bill 0033 which granted DEQ the authority to draft rules for the regulation of the use of explosives at noncoal surface mining operations. The LQD will be seeking input and comments on the draft rules from the Board and interested parties during this meeting.

Comments must be received by the close of business on September 17, 2025.
