Dear Friends,
Thank you to everyone who attended my town hall in Hyde Park. It was a great discussion about the pressing issues facing our communities and what I'm doing in Congress to fight against the Trump administration's harmful agenda.
You can stay up to date on my work in the Second District and in DC on my new Threads account.
Annual Farm Tour and Barn Hall
My district spans from the bustling streets of Chicago to the suburbs to rural communities -- including over 4,500 farms! One of my favorite parts of the year is my annual farm tour and barn hall, when I travel throughout the district to learn about unique farms and what they're doing to provide for their community.
This year, I visited Urban Growers Collective, a farm right in Chicago! Then, I traveled to Janie's Farm Organics and Janie's Mill in Danforth -- and literally went from farm to table where I enjoyed all their ingredients at Beans & Barley Brews for lunch. The day culminated in my annual Barn Hall, where I had powerful conversations with farmers and food security advocates.
I Stand with Our Immigrant Neighbors
President Trump is fanning a dangerous lie: that persecuting immigrants somehow benefits Black people. It’s a divide-and-conquer strategy designed to pit our communities against each other. We need to call it what it is — and be clear: Donald Trump does not care about Black people.
When Black and Brown communities stand together, we are powerful. We can fight back against these attacks — against mass deportations, catastrophic budget cuts and the politics of fear. Together, we demand a country that values every life, protects every family and delivers justice for all.
