<p>The world’s leading authority on food insecurity just officially confirmed widespread famine in Gaza.<small>1</small></p>
<p><strong>The United Nations-backed group of experts found that over half a million people in north Gaza are at risk of dying from starvation, and hundreds of thousands more people face catastrophic shortages as the famine spreads to other areas.</strong> "As this Famine is entirely man-made, it can be halted and reversed. The time for debate and hesitation has passed, starvation is present and is rapidly spreading," read the group’s report.<small>2</small></p>
<p><strong>Israel created this horror with its aid blockade, and has been fully backed by the U.S. every step of the way.</strong> We must end U.S. support for what Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch are calling a genocide in Gaza.</p>

<p><strong>Israel’s bombardment of Gaza has killed civilians at a rate with few parallels in modern warfare.</strong> Recent reporting from +972 Magazine found that, according to Israel’s own data, “at least 83 percent of Palestinians killed in Israel’s onslaught on Gaza were civilians.”<small>3</small></p>
<p>Israel is only escalating this terror. This week, Israel began a full-scale invasion and military occupation of Gaza City. The operation has sparked global condemnation, including the UN human rights chief saying, “The Israeli Government's plan for a complete military takeover of the occupied Gaza strip must be immediately halted.”<small>4</small></p>
<p><strong>Yet the U.S. government continues to fund the horror with more than $22 billion in military aid.</strong> Congress has approved expanded military aid to Israel six times since October 7, 2023. No more. Our lawmakers must end arms sales to Israel NOW.</p>

And ICE plans to use the influx of billions in funding from Trump’s budget to double the space it has for its prisons — including so-called “mega-facilities.”<small>4</small></p><p>At least 12 people have died in ICE custody under Trump — on pace for one of the deadliest years in immigrant detention.<small>5,6</small> More will die, and many others will get sick and suffer abuse in ICE prisons unless Congress holds ICE accountable.</p><p><strong>Sign the petition: Investigate ICE prisons and save immigrants from horrible, inhumane treatment!</strong></p><p>After a man died by suicide in the largest ICE detention center in the northeast — one with a documented history of abuse — advocates are calling for the facility to be shutdown.<small>7</small></p><p>This comes after Democratic lawmakers and Human Rights Watch documented the horrible treatment of people at ICE prisons in Florida. Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz called Alligator Alcatraz an <strong>“internment camp.”</strong><small>8</small> In another facility, Human Rights Watch found a dozen women crammed in one cell with no beds and a single toilet covered in feces. One man that ICE imprisoned for 63 days with no charge, said, <strong>“You feel like your life is over.”</strong><small>9</small></p><p>These are just some of the horrors of the Trump administration’s mass deportations. Our lawmakers must take a stand and do everything they can to end these “internment camps” on American soil. </p><p><strong>Sign the petition: Investigate ICE prisons now! Protect immigrants from brutal ICE abuses.</strong></p><p>Thanks for taking action,</p><p>Joey and the Demand Progress team</p>
