Below is a longer email from Linda. We hope you’ll take the time to read until the end, but if you don’t have the time you can contribute here:

I was born in Southern California, the sixth of seven children raised by Mexican immigrant parents who worked hard, believed in education, and gave everything to give their kids a better future.

My dad was an industrial mechanic. My mom became an elementary school teacher, but not before going back to school herself to earn her college degree. They didn’t have much, but they made sure that all seven of their children went on to become college graduates.

I learned early what it meant to work hard, stay grounded, and serve your community.

After earning my law degree, I started my career practicing civil rights and employment law. I fought for workers as a labor lawyer with IBEW Local 441 and NECA, then went on to lead the Orange County Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO.

I’ve always believed in fairness, opportunity, and standing up for people who deserve better.

That’s why I ran for Congress in 2001. When I won, my sister Loretta and I became the first pair of sisters in American history to serve together in Congress.

And I’ve been “kicking ass for the working class” ever since.

I’m proud to represent California’s 38th Congressional District — a vibrant, diverse region of hardworking families across communities like Norwalk, Whittier, La Mirada, Diamond Bar, Pico Rivera, and more. I’ve made it my mission to fight for public education, good jobs, affordable health care, retirement security, and safe, welcoming neighborhoods.

In Congress, I’ve taken on everything from tax fairness to trade policy to ethics reform. I dedicate my work to helping shape policies that affect working families.

I’m also proud to serve as Chair of BOLD PAC, the campaign arm of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. It’s the first time a woman has held this role, and I take it seriously. Together, we’re working to elect more progressive Latino leaders across the country — because representation matters.

We have a lot of work to do.

Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans are determined to keep control of the House so they can rip away health care, slash taxes for the ultra-wealthy, and undermine our democracy one law at a time.

I’m not going to let that happen.

But I can’t do it alone. I hope you’ll consider making a contribution today to join me in this fight:
