Department of State takes action against driver education provider in Ypsilanti
Coach Richmond’s Driving School, LLC suspended for alleged violations
LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan Department of State (MDOS) has summarily suspended the operations of a Ypsilanti driving school for violations of the Driver Education Provider and Instructor Act (DEPIA).
Coach Richmond’s Driving School, LLC, located at 301 West Michigan Ave., Ste. A70, was issued a summary suspension on August 21 after an initial investigation by MDOS found the provider failed to maintain required student records, exceeded the fire marshal’s classroom capacity, failed to use the prescribed curriculum, and provided behind-the-wheel instruction in an uninsured vehicle. The provider is indefinitely suspended, pending an ongoing investigation. No classes or other instruction may be held during the period of suspension.
MDOS inspects and investigates driver education providers and instructors to ensure compliance with DEPIA. Any consumers who have a complaint against Coach Richmond’s Driving School, LLC or another driver education provider are encouraged to file a Statement of Complaint online at Michigan.gov/DriverEdComplaint.
