Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks (202) 225-6576
Does Rep. Miller-Meeks support Trump’s tariff war? Prices are rising by the day. How far do they have to go before she steps in and does something? Why is she standing idly by in Congress as Trump’s tariffs raise inflation, instead of fighting for her constituents who are hurt by them? |

John L. Lewis Labor Festival When: Sat, August 30, 7:10am-2:30pm Where: Lucas Fire House, 101 East Front St., Lucas, IA Description: The John L. Lewis Labor Festival will take place on Saturday, August 30th, in Lucas Iowa. This is an important day for Labor in Iowa. A native born Iowan, John L. Lewis was the leader of organized labor who served as president of the United Mine Workers of America from 1920 to 1960. A major player in the history of coal mining, he was the driving force behind the founding of the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO). The day will be filled with family fun activities and a parade through the streets of Lucas Iowa, which everyone is welcome to join. |

Hey folks! Rita Hart here. |
Our Republican Representatives have gotten themselves into some hot water recently. Marianette Miller-Meeks stood up one of her constituents at the fair, refusing to talk about the vote she cast for Medicaid cuts. I’d feel more sympathy for her if not for the fact that she still has yet to host a single public town hall. Why act surprised when constituents come up to you at the fair with questions when you’ve given them no opportunity to do so elsewhere? |
Zach Nunn’s situation might be even worse. He used congressional funds to create an ad highlighting the tax cuts in the Big, Ugly, Lousy Law; the one that will kick millions of people off of Medicaid and SNAP. It is a real slap in the face to Iowans who depend on the programs.
This behavior is exactly the reason why Iowa needs new leadership. We need leaders who will listen to constituents, who will respect their fellow Iowans, and who won’t kick people off their health insurance while using public dollars to create their own political ads. |
| |
Iowa needs a change in leadership. And every day we’ll continue to fight to get it. I appreciate your continued involvement and support of the Iowa Democratic Party. |
Sincerely, Rita Hart IDP Chair |
