The Trump administration claims they’re deploying the National Guard in American cities to fight crime.

But here’s the truth about Los Angeles:

For two years in a row, homelessness has gone down — the first time that’s happened in our city. We’re on pace for the lowest homicide total in nearly 60 years. And last year, rates of violent crime, shootings, thefts, and deadly traffic crashes all fell.

We’re making progress. Real progress that our communities can feel.

Instead of working with us, the Trump administration deployed federal agents and the National Guard on our streets. They used Los Angeles as a test case — pushing out locally elected officials to see how far they could go. Now they’re doing the same in Washington, DC. And they won’t stop there.

I’m not backing down. I’ll keep working to build a safer, fairer Los Angeles, and I’ll keep fighting federal overreach that threatens our communities.
