Dear Friend,
Funding for WIC, the Women, Infants, and Children nutrition program, which
is a lifeline for millions of families, is at risk. Again. So your voice
is needed again!

families. Tell your U.S. Representative to fully fund WIC.
Here’s what’s happening: Last year you powerfully rose up to protect the
Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children
(WIC) from threatened cuts— tens of thousands of you signed our petition
and shared with lawmakers how WIC has helped your families. And it worked!
THANK YOU!!
Now, your voice is needed again to protect WIC during the fiscal year 2026
budget process. With food costs continuing to rise, WIC participation
rates continuing to increase, and severe cuts to food assistance just
passed by Congress, we must keep the pressure on our lawmakers to protect
this program so families can build good lives and thrive.

WIC has had strong bipartisan support in the past – so we can (and need
to) build strong support now. In fact, for the past 30 years, there has
been a bipartisan commitment in Congress to provide the funding to serve
all eligible WIC participants. Last month, the U.S. Senate advanced a
funding bill that continues this bipartisan tradition to fully fund WIC.
This bill passed overwhelmingly by a vote of 87-9. The U.S. Senate-passed
bill increases WIC funding to $8.2 billion, which is an estimated $500
million increase to meet the anticipated increase in participation. The
U.S. Senate bill also protects the popular cash value benefit (CVB) so
that WIC participants can continue to purchase fruits and vegetables. [1]
Now the bill is being considered in the U.S. House, and so far, the
Republican-controlled U.S. House and White House proposals include cuts to
WIC and reduce the fruit and vegetable benefit. [2] Any cuts to funding or
benefit amounts— especially during this time of rising grocery prices—
would harm the over 6 million women and children who participate in WIC to
provide healthier food for their families and build good lives.
[ [link removed] ]That is why we are calling on YOU to tell your U.S. Representative to
support the Senate-passed bill that fully funds WIC and preserves the
fruit and vegetable benefit!
Moms like Amy in Georgia use the fruit and vegetable benefit to raise
healthy kids:
“WIC is extremely helpful to my family. I have had it since I became
pregnant. My favorite aspect is cash towards fruits and vegetables, fresh,
canned, and frozen. It helps me keep fruits and veggies at every meal to
show my child what a balanced diet looks like. WIC is very easy to use and
allows me to budget for bills and other important things for baby.”
The fruit and vegetable benefit both allows millions of moms to feed
children the fresh, nutritious produce they need and love (strawberries!
apples! carrots!); and helps children be healthy as they also develop
lifelong healthy eating habits.

moms, children, and families by fully funding WIC!
WIC saves taxpayers money in the long run. Extensive research has found
WIC to be a cost-effective investment that strengthens both our local and
national economy and improves the nutrition and health of hard-working
low-income families— leading to healthier infants, more nutritious diets
and better health care for children. Children in families that participate
in WIC also show higher academic achievement than similar children whose
families did not participate. [3]

the needs of women and children by protecting WIC!”
Together we are a powerful voice for children and families!
