I’d like you to hear from one of our Sustainer Circle members, Donna Maebori, about why monthly giving is so important to our work:
“Since the 1990s, I had become politically active every now and then, mainly attending rallies and marches. In 2004, I learned, somehow, about canvassing for John Kerry for president and went to my first-ever experience, which was followed by several more times of door-knocking. The people managing it were really friendly and efficient. Over time, I learned they were from OLCV. In 2016, after a certain election, I knew I wanted to be consistently active politically. Thinking back to my experience with OLCV, remembering it was good, I volunteered and have been on the Washington County Leadership Team ever since. Without a single exception, OLCV’s friendliness and efficiency are always present. OLCV is organized, effective, clear on its goals and purpose, with good-hearted people doing the work. Generally, the League is considered the political arm of the environmental movement. With government policy able to produce large societal changes, getting persons into office who live out environmental justice principles is absolutely vital to a viable future for the earth and all her inhabitants. Each year, it becomes easier to donate, having developed deep confidence in the quality and care given to this important work by everyone involved. In fact, it is a joy to give to OLCV. As a monthly giver myself, I invite you to join me in the Sustainer Circle!”
