This November, voters will decide whether to keep three accomplished Justices on the bench — including Justice Christine Donohue, a fair-minded jurist with a proven record of defending the rule of law, our democracy, and our environment. All of the judges up for retention votes are endorsed by Conservation Voters of PA, Climate Cabinet, the CleanTech Party, and the Pennsylvania Democratic Party.

Trump and right-wing extremists are targeting this low-turnout election in hopes of reshaping the court for years to come — and we need your help to stop them.

Join us for a virtual event on Tuesday, August 26, 7:30ET/4:30PT to hear from Justice Christine Donohue and Pennsylvania Speaker of the House, Joanna McClinton, plus other special guests. They will discuss this judicial retention election and key issues facing Pennsylvania.

All three Justices up for retention are committed to safeguarding our elections, preventing millions of legal votes from being thrown out by partisan lower court judges. They have protected our clean air and water, defending our right to a healthy environment by taking on polluters, and have held special interests accountable.

This event is about more than Pennsylvania. It's about protecting the courts that protect our freedoms. PA's Supreme Court has been a critical firewall nationally against attacks on democracy, including attempts to overturn the 2020 election. Keeping pro-environment justices like Justice Donohue on the bench is essential for the fights ahead in 2026 and 2028.

Right-wing extremists do not want these justices retained and are spending big to remove them from the PA Supreme Court. About our speakers: 

• Justice Christine Donohue  worked as a civil trial lawyer and litigator for nearly three decades. She served on the Pennsylvania Superior Court for 8 years before being elected to the Supreme Court in 2015.
• Pennsylvania Speaker of the House, Joanna McClinton,  made history in 2018 by becoming the first African-American and woman to be elected as the House Democratic Caucus chairman, and in 2020 to be elected to serve as the first woman House Democratic Leader, and then in 2023 was elected Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
