![]() Patriot, As it is, the United States spending more money on “defense” than the next 9 countries combined. This colossal amount of spending has broken our national budget. We wouldn't have a $37 trillion national debt, and spending trillions just on interest payments on the debt, if we weren't spending close to a trillion dollars per year, mostly to unaccountable contractors who are ripping off the taxpayers like no tomorrow. But some politicians in Washington, led by Lame Duck Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) think this isn't nearly enough – and want to raise our military spending astronomically. ![]() You see, when the U.S. Senate returns in September, their first order of business is passing the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) – and Sen. Tillis has an amendment to require NATO members like the United States increase their military spending to 5% of our gross domestic product by 2035. We currently spend – mostly waste – 2.9% of our GDP on our military. Increasing our military spending to 5% of GDP would be a 72% increase – or another 720 billion dollars. This is an unaffordable increase in military spending, and an outrageous way to make policy. Spending should be determined by actual needs, not by picking an arbitrary figure out of thin air. Tell your U.S. Senators to VOTE NO on the Thom Tillis amendment (3518) to radically increase military spending! As it is, the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” failed to reduce spending simply because it radically increased military spending. And the fact is, we are not getting our money's worth. As shown above, Russia spends just a fraction what we do on its military. Yet Russia has a massive arsenal of nuclear weapons, hypersonic missiles, tanks, layered missile defense system, artillery, and everything else a military needs, including men. We may have the world's most powerful military. But we have, by far, the world's most overpriced military. And our arsenal of guns and missiles and tanks meant to defend the United States have been given away for interventions and wars all around the world. In fact, The U.S. is currently facing a missile inventory shortage, particularly in interceptors needed for defense, which raises concerns about its ability to effectively respond to threats. While it has some stockpiles, the Pentagon has acknowledged the supply may not be sufficient for sustained operations, especially in a high-intensity conflict. The military-industrial complex needs to be reformed. We aren't getting our money's worth as it is. Imagine if we were to flood the military industrial complex with massive new spending. Patriot, ONE TRILLION DOLLARS is now added to the debt every 100 days! And too many in Congress and the White House don’t seem to care. You and I have come to expect that attitude from the likes of AOC, Bernie Sanders, and countless other tax-and-spend Democrats. But many Republicans who ran on cutting the government are shrinking into the shadows of the Swamp and not fighting back. They just want to spend money on a different set of special interests. This is not acceptable. Tell your U.S. Senators to OPPOSE THE TILLIS AMENDMENT (3518) in the NDAA which increases military spending! The price of everything from consumer goods to housing prices to insurance remains much higher than before the pandemic. Household savings have plummeted as many Americans must dig into their savings and go into debt to cover basic living expenses. And yet Congress always finds a way to spend more and more regardless of which party is in control. They're not thinking about “America First.” They're thinking about enriching their pals in the military-industrial complex – and possibly making a buck for themselves, as well. The fact is, we won't be able to balance our budget without reducing what we spending on war. As Campaign for Liberty Chairman Ron Paul recently wrote: “President Trump and congressional Republicans will never cut spending until they stop pretending they can pay down the national debt, cut taxes, and continue massive spending on militarism.” But Thom Tillis – a Lame Duck neoconservative who already announced his retirement – wants to kick the military-industrial complex spending up far, far higher. His proposal would punish all NATO members, including the United States, if they do not radically increase military spending. Tell your U.S. Senators right now to vote NO on Thom Tillis' military spending amendment to the NDAA. And if you can, please chip in a generous contribution to help us spread the message of liberty. Can we count on your support of $100, or even $50 or $25? For Liberty, ![]() John McCardell Executive Director Campaign for Liberty P.S. Once Congress gets back from vacation, they'll be in a rush to pass the National Defense Authorization Act. Sen. Thom Tillis' amendment would demand we radically increase military spending by 2035.
