Education, Advocacy, Awareness, and Support for Individuals Affected by Obesity

Childhood obesity is a significant public health concern that affects millions of children across the United States. Beyond the physical health implications, children with obesity often face weight bias and stigma, leading to emotional distress, social isolation, and academic challenges. School nurses are uniquely positioned to address these issues, serving as advocates and educators within the school community. 

Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals affected by obesity through education, advocacy, and support. Epilepsy Alliance America's new Back to School Seizure Preparedness Checklist is now available! The checklist provides essential tools and resources to support students living with epilepsy. It features NASN's School Nursing Evidence-based Clinical Practice Guideline: Students with Seizures and Epilepsy, with evidence-based practice recommendations to assist school nurses in improving the health and safety of students with epilepsy, subsequently enhancing learning and academic success.
