Creating a will may not feel urgent, but it can be one of the most affirming and thoughtful things you do. For trans and nonbinary individuals, a will does more than outline wishes—it ensures that your identity, relationships, and values are legally protected and respected.
[This National Make-A-Will Month, we’re sharing a free resource to offer our TLC community a simple way to create a legal will in about 20 minutes.]([link removed])
We know that lack of estate planning documentation is leveraged by institutions and individuals to further discriminate against queer and trans folks.
In your will, you can:
Provide guidance for how you want to be remembered, affirming the use of your correct name and pronouns.
- Assign beneficiaries for life insurance or retirement accounts
- Choose trusted individuals to make health and financial decisions
- You can also choose to include Transgender Law Center in your plans, joining our circle of 200+ Legacy Donors.
