Hi John,
One month to go until we descend on central London for a mobilisation to demand that the government Makes Them Pay.
We’ll be marching with three key demands:
1. Tax the super-rich
2. Protect workers, not billionaires
3. Make Polluters Pay
Global Justice Now supporters are coming from around the country. We would love to see you there to make our voices heard as powerfully as possible. Sign up below to let us know if you’re coming and make sure you get all the right information:
** Make Them Pay demonstration
------------------------------------------------------------
When: 12 noon, Saturday 20 September
Where: Portland Place, London W1B
I'll be there ([link removed])
We know that it’s the global south that is most at risk by the wanton polluting and profiteering of the richest in society. And even in the UK, the impacts of climate change are not felt equally across society.
This month, Carbon Brief analysis has revealed that neighbourhoods in England that are home to the most minority-ethnic people are 15 times more likely to face extreme heat than the least diverse areas. The analysis also found that people with the lowest carbon footprints are the most likely to live in areas that experience extreme temperatures. [1]
While injustices like this become ever more serious, billionaires and big oil are allowed to keep on polluting. The majority of people in the UK support a wealth tax, and there is strong support for taxes on fossil fuel companies too. [2]
It’s not surprising that Make Them Pay is growing every day and winning support across society. Global Justice Now has been a central part of building an alliance that is 75 organisations strong, with more signing up every week.
On 20 September, workers and trade unions, parents, families and kids, Palestine solidarity groups, faith groups, and many other movements will all be turning out to demand political action. Together, we’ll be calling for the super-rich and corporate polluters pay to rebuild society for the people who keep it running, not the rich and powerful.
We’ll be sending out lots of useful information about how to join us on the demo over the next few weeks. Let us know you’re coming so we can be sure to send it to you:

P.S. We’re aiming to bring tens of thousands of people to London on 20 September, so we’ll need help with stewarding on the day. Sign up using this form ([link removed]) if you can help.
