Texas Crime Stoppers Student Ambassador Leadership Retreat
retreat

The Texas Crime Stoppers Student Ambassador Program is a statewide leadership initiative designed for high school students who are actively engaged in their local Crime Stoppers programs. The goal of the program is to empower youth leaders to serve as positive role models and voices for crime prevention across Texas.

Each year, 12 high school students are carefully selected to serve as Student Ambassadors. These students are chosen based on their commitment to service, leadership potential, and involvement in their local Crime Stoppers communities. Throughout their year-long term, Ambassadors are tasked with completing a series of projects that enhance their leadership skills, foster personal growth, and strengthen their ability to positively influence their schools and communities. They represent youth across Texas and help elevate the visibility and impact of Crime Stoppers programs statewide.

Every July, the program hosts the annual Texas Crime Stoppers Student Ambassador Leadership Retreat, where students gather to learn more about law enforcement, the judicial system, and the inner workings of campus and community safety. The retreat is a cornerstone experience for the Ambassadors, offering hands-on learning, team building, and exposure to various facets of public safety.

This summer, the 2025 Ambassador Leadership Retreat was proudly hosted by Hays County Crime Stoppers in San Marcos, Texas. The retreat featured a dynamic schedule filled with interactive experiences and professional insights. Highlights included tactical demonstrations from the Hays County Sheriff’s Office, roundtable conversations with local police chiefs, constables, judges, and representatives from the district attorney’s office. Ambassadors also connected with the Hays County Victim Services and Mental Health Unit and received a guided tour of the Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center—gaining a well-rounded understanding of the law enforcement and judicial services available in Hays County.

The retreat provided an invaluable opportunity for Ambassadors to sharpen their leadership skills, deepen their understanding of crime prevention and public service, and form lasting connections as a team while exploring the San Marcos area.

A heartfelt thank you to Hays County Crime Stoppers for hosting such a fantastic and impactful retreat.

*Basic Crime Stoppers Course Hosted in Terrell*

Texas Crime Stoppers hosted a successful Basic Crime Stoppers Course on August 18–19, 2025, in Terrell, Texas. The course was made possible thanks to the generous support and hospitality of Kaufman County Crime Stoppers, who served as the local host for the two-day training.

The training brought together program coordinators, board members, and community partners from across the state for 16 hours of engaging instruction. Attendees fulfilled the required training for program certification and received both TCOLE and CPE credit.

Course topics included best practices in tip management, board governance, campus-based Crime Stoppers programs, annual reporting, certification standards, marketing outreach, and fundraising strategies.

A big thank you to Kaufman County Crime Stoppers for helping make this training a great success and for your continued dedication to strengthening the Crime Stoppers mission in Texas!
