About Jimmy Carter and The Carter Center
Jimmy Carter was a man of high principle, steadfast integrity, and deep religious faith who dedicated his life to public service. As private citizen and public official he committed almost half of his 100-year life to the eradication of Guinea worm. Guinea worm is now poised to become the second human disease, after smallpox, to be eradicated, and the first to be eradicated without a vaccine.

The President and the Dragon is The Carter Center's documentary sharing the story of how President Carter with a motley crew of public health veterans, former child soldiers, and local volunteers traverse political minefields, treacherous terrain, and civil war in South Sudan chase after the eradication of Guinea Worm. As we move towards the "last mile" of eradication, with no cure or treatment for Guinea Worm, the linchpin of the Guinea Worm Eradication Program's efforts are the tools and innovations currently in use or under development to prevent exposure. Join us for a special screening of the documentary at The Carter Center, followed by a panel discussion, as part of the Conversations at the Carter Center event series.
