Dear Friend,
I am seriously concerned about this year's election.
The Green Party have just received fawning media coverage for their
newest policy package: a new tax on wealth, higher income taxes, and
massive hikes to benefits.
At the very time we need
to get New Zealand working, Marama Davidson and the Greens want to
make it easier to stay on the dole and hike taxes for those creating
the jobs!
If polling doesn't change, these taxes will become reality after
the election.
Will
you help us block the Green Party from advancing its tax-and-spend
agenda?
Currently, the Government can effectively ignore the Greens’ wacky
ideas. The Greens are not a full coalition partner like New Zealand
First. But recent polls show New Zealand First failing to re-enter
Parliament, meaning Jacinda Ardern will have to bring the Green Party
into Cabinet to form a new Government. Remember, no party under MMP
has ever achieved a Parliamentary majority alone.
In exchange for supporting Labour, the Greens can demand anything
they want.
The wealth tax will be a dream for tax lawyers and accountants, but
hell for taxpayers. A pensioner who owns a family bach, for example,
will get whacked even if they struggle with weekly bills. Every
business owner would be required to value their business annually –
and most business owners would pay tax even in years they turn a
loss!
Meanwhile higher income tax rates of 37% and 42% will discourage
entrepreneurs from growing the economy and creating more jobs.
It would be madness to
introduce these aggressive and anti-productive policies during a
recession, but this will happen if the Greens hold the balance of
power.
Friend, the Taxpayers’ Union is one of the only independent voices
with a record of holding the Greens and other high-tax, big-spending
groups to account. Will you ensure that there is a strong voice for
taxpayers this election campaign?

With your support, we can expose the silliness of this Green Party
policy and others between now and voting day.
Thank you for making our work possible.
