Behind that number is a system you helped build: survivor-centered and smart.!

John,
When someone reaches out to the National Human Trafficking Hotline, their story doesn’t disappear into a void. It becomes part of a coordinated response — one shaped by nearly two decades of collaboration between Polaris, survivors, law enforcement, service providers, and people like you.
Because of your support of this work, the Hotline is more than a call center. It’s a national resource that turns raw tips into meaningful outcomes: survivors identified, investigations opened, traffickers held accountable. Thank you for your support!
We understand there are some common misconceptions about how the Hotline engages with law enforcement. Here's what you should know:
We do report tips to law enforcement — and we do so much more.
We work alongside officers, task forces, and agencies across the country.
All communications with the Hotline, including tips from third-parties, are confidential, unless the person reaching out: gives permission to share information; expresses threat to harm themselves or others; discloses information regarding the abuse, neglect, or trafficking of a minor; or reports a life-threatening emergency or imminent harm.
Together, we've built a trauma-informed system that centers survivor safety while making sure every credible tip has the chance to become a case.
Out of the referrals to law enforcement where outcomes were known, 71% resulted in an investigation being opened. That’s the power of trust, coordination, and experience.
