John --
Yesterday was a special day celebrating Pride in District 11
with special recognition to Marsha P Johnson, Black Trans Lives and 50
years of Pride with neighbors and friends. This is the first Pride
celebration to my knowledge in our neighborhood.
Recently, the
Supreme Court ruled to uphold the equal rights of the LGBTQ community
against discrimination in the work place. I want to reaffirm my full support for the
civil rights movement of the LGBTQ community. While we were not able
to celebrate the 50 years of Pride in the full scale manner that we
had hoped, I am proud that we were able to bring Pride to District 11
this year.
I want to thank Senator Scott Wiener for stopping by as we
made our way through the Excelsior to support local businesses such as
the Recovery Room, Gentilly, and Dark Horse who have been struggling
through shelter-in-place. Special thanks to Geoffrea Simpson-Morris,
Lisa Williams, Angelique Mahan, Al
Perez, Cathy Mulkey Meyer, and Mel Flores for your help in putting
this together.
In Solidarity,
Ahsha
