Accuracy in Media just released an investigation exposing how the University
of West Alabama is plotting to keep DEI alive, despite state law banning it.



The Dean of Students, Byron Thetford, admitted on hidden camera that UWA is
“looking for loopholes.” He went on to describe DEI as nothing more than a
“marketing thing” for the school.



Even more troubling, Thetford suggested they may dedicate part of a federal
grant to DEI instruction, which directly undermines the law signed by Governor
Kay Ivey in 2024.



When confronted by Adam Guillette, Thetford initially denied it until he was
shown the video of himself. Only then did he backtrack, saying, “We’re still
looking for ways to provide for our students any way that we can.”



Governor Ivey made it clear when she signed the ban: taxpayer-funded DEI
indoctrination has no place in Alabama’s colleges. But at UWA, administrators
are rebranding DEI under new names, hiding job titles, and quietly continuing
the same programs in violation of state law.
