Social Security is one of the most successful government programs in American history.
It’s simple: We all pay our hard-earned money into Social Security over the years and when we retire we are guaranteed a baseline income to stay afloat.
It has kept tens of millions of people out of poverty, and ensured that workers can successfully retire instead of staying on the job into their later years. Taking care of our seniors is a core responsibility of our society — a responsibility that helps everyone and makes our economy stronger.
But Donald Trump and the Republican Party have made it clear that they want to cut or even dismantle this bedrock program.
Trump’s administration has tried to claim that there’s widespread fraud, despite experts saying it’s simply not true. Trump’s Treasury Secretary has suggested privatizing the program. Elon Musk even called it a “Ponzi scheme.”
Rather than expand a successful program to help more people, Republicans want Grandma and Grandpa to receive less money each month just to pay for a huge tax cut for billionaires like Musk.
But any changes to Social Security would have to pass the Senate, and Ed Markey will fight against any and all cuts that the GOP throws our way.
If we are going to protect Social Security, we have to apply grassroots pressure and make sure Republicans know they will be acting against the overwhelming majority of American voters who oppose Republican attacks on this successful program.
That’s why I’m asking you today: Stand with me and everyone in this movement who is fighting back by making a contribution to power our efforts. This moment isn’t just a test for Boston, but for our entire country: Will we allow Trump to become a king or will we defend our independence? Help us send a message with a donation today >>

The cruelty from the billionaire class is shocking, but par for the course. It’s up to us to bring the fight to them and protect the progress we’ve made for the working class in this nation.
In solidarity,
Team Markey
