John – as a Congressman, it’s my JOB to hold our government to account. But when I tried to fulfill my legal right to visit ICE facilities, I was evicted after a masked ICE agent called the police. I'm an immigrant. My children are first generation Americans. Every day, I see innocent, hardworking people being violently detained and uprooted from their communities – all to serve Trump’s sick political agenda. And this past week, we’ve seen Trump take over Washington, D.C. to round up immigrants, and order mass detention camps to be built on U.S. military bases – without transparency, oversight, or basic safeguards. This is not how a democracy treats people, John. But the MAGA loyalists in the White House and Senate have made clear they have zero respect for Democracy, the law, or the basic rights of our neighbors. If I've learned anything in my life as an immigrant in this country, it’s that success comes from translating our anger and worry into action. That’s why I’m leading the fight to pass legislation restricting ICE agents from wearing masks that conceal their identities, allowing them to operate with zero accountability. It’s why I’m demanding MAXIMUM oversight for ICE – now set to be the highest-funded law enforcement agency under Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” – to make sure they’re respecting the law and our constitution. It’s also why I’m running for Senate. Because we need leaders with a backbone to FIGHT BACK and stop Donald Trump before it’s too late.
