Dear John,
This week, House Democrats are launching our Cost of Living Week of Action because the number one issue facing everyday Americans is affordability. Families in the Chicagoland area and across the country are being squeezed by rising costs at the grocery store, at the doctor’s office, and on their monthly utility bills.
Instead of providing relief, President Donald Trump and House Republicans are pushing policies that make life more expensive. The Trump Tariffs are driving up prices on everything from food to household goods. And the so-called “Big, Ugly Bill” raises the cost of groceries, health care, and utilities—breaking promises and making it even harder for hardworking families to make ends meet.
House Democrats know you deserve better. We are fighting to:
- Lower the cost of housing and make it easier for families to buy a home.
- Make child care and elder care more affordable, so working parents and caregivers have support.
- Put money back in your pocket for essentials like groceries and utility bills.
The bottom line is simple: America is too expensive, and we cannot afford policies that make it worse. I am committed to advancing solutions that lower costs, strengthen our communities, and give every family the breathing room they need to thrive.
Thank you for allowing me the honor of serving you in Congress.
