Texas Democrats fought like hell to stop Greg Abbott’s outrageous mid-decade gerrymandering plan.

They walked out. They denied quorum. They put their bodies and their livelihoods on the line to keep these corrupt, unconstitutional maps from becoming law.

But after weeks of holding the line, they had to come home—to their families, their communities, and their day jobs. And now, Abbott is getting what he wanted all along: a path to finish carving up our democracy.

Let’s be honest: this was a valiant stand. But it could never be a permanent solution. If we’re going to stop this madness, it won’t be in the statehouse. It’ll be at the ballot box.
