This week, people in Kentucky, Virginia, and New York made their voices heard at the ballot box. Even as we wait for the final results to come in, one thing is clear: our fight for justice has just begun, and we need to keep up the momentum from now until Election Day.

Our campaign has always been about the people of Brooklyn and Queens — the constituents the congressman serves, and the supporters who drive the campaign. Serving means looking out for all, especially the least, the lost, and the left behind. That is truer today than ever before.

Our country and our communities are struggling right now. So many have been knocked down by the public health and economic crises sweeping our country; and we’re also collectively grieving the deadly costs of racist hate in our society. But Americans are still finding ways to make their voices heard through voting; and we must sustain that energy through November if we want real change.

If we truly want change in November, if we want real leadership in the White House, and real justice for the inequities in our society, we're going to have to fight for it. Those wielding power without regard for the people they're meant to serve — Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, and William Barr — will do everything they can to stop us.

This fight is not new to Hakeem. It's why he decided to run for Congress in the first place: to give a voice to the voiceless, and to fight for the least, the lost, and the left behind.
