How Americans Are Divided Over President’s Immigration Policies?

United States: A new YouGov poll shows many Americans are uneasy about President Donald Trump’s hardline stance on illegal immigration. The survey, conducted between July 16–18 with 2,156 adults, found that a majority believe US citizens have been unfairly detained in immigration centers.

  • Two-thirds of respondents said at least some American citizens had been wrongfully held.
  • 18% believe none were detained unfairly, while another 18% were unsure.

The divide was sharp along party lines:

  • 92% of Democrats and 65% of independents said wrongful detentions occurred.
  • Only 35% of Republicans agreed, while most Republicans felt otherwise.
