John, I only have a minute, but I need to share this update with you:
On Monday night, Texas Republicans locked Rep. Nicole Collier inside the House chamber and refused to let her leave.
Why? Because in order to go home to their families, Democrats were forced to sign “permission slips” – mandating a police escort and 24/7 surveillance at their homes – and Rep. Collier refused to sign her rights away.
Texas Republicans held a Black woman hostage all night so they could keep working to suppress the votes of Black Texans and hand Trump his House majority on a silver platter. It’s disgusting, racist, and shameful.
Rep. Collier is a hero for protesting Texas Republicans’ assault on our rights – and right now, we all need to rise to the occasion.
I’m fighting like hell to save my seat in Congress and keep advocating for all Texans, but in the face of increasingly dangerous Republican attacks, I’m counting on Democrats like you to stand with me.
