The fight for climate and worker justice depends on our ability to protest, speak out, and organize together. When the government uses militarization to silence communities, it threatens every movement for justice.
That’s why we are a member of the Protect the Protest coalition, and why we share our coalition partners’ alarm over the Trump administration’s militarization of Washington D.C. and seizure of control of the city’s police force. Officials claim this is about public safety, but crime in D.C. is at its lowest level in 30 years. This is not about safety. It’s about silencing dissent, stripping away local autonomy, and sending a chilling message to movements everywhere.
