Don’t forget to register for our 46th Affordable Housing Conference! The conference will take place Friday, October 3rd at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis, bringing together over 1,000 practitioners and advocates from throughout the region for learning, networking, and strategizing for our collective work ahead!

Registration closes Wednesday, September 17 at 11:59PM

Volunteer at the NPH Conference Volunteers contribute with general event support, such as registration and event close-down. Volunteers receive free admission and enjoy the event as a regular attendee outside of their volunteer shift. Sign up to volunteer!

The NPH Annual Holiday Member Party is happening in-person on Thursday, December 4 from 5:30 to 8:30PM at Fluid510 in Oakland! Mark your calendars for an evening of food & drinks, fun, and opportunity to connect with fellow housers. This event is open to NPH members and those interested in getting to know NPH and our community of affordable housing practitioners.

We’ll celebrate the successes from this past year with you - our members, partners, and advocates. We’ll also be electing new NPH board members and thanking outgoing NPH board members. Stay tuned for future emails once registration is announced.

The Housing Readiness Report, developed by the Partnership for the Bay’s Future, is a powerful, equity-centered tool that helps you track whether cities are turning their Housing Element commitments into real progress.

Use this tool to:

  • Compare Housing Element programs in a searchable database
  • Track cities’ affordable housing production
  • Explore community conditions like rent burden, displacement risk, and demographic shifts
  • Take action with tools tailored for advocates and policymakers

📋 Opening Soon: Housing Development Training Institute Cohort

 

The California Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) recently announced that applications for the 2026 cohort of the Housing Development Training Institute (HDTI) will be available on September 1. Join them on August 27th as they host an informational webinar for all prospective applicants.

LISC launched HDTI in response to an unmet educational need for a comprehensive program to develop the project management skills of community development corporations' staff. Since 1988, HDTI has trained over 550 graduates representing 100 community development organizations across our state.

 

💡 Board Member Spotlight: Donald Gilmore

 

The NPH Board works tirelessly to move policy forward, build capacity and community, and raise awareness about affordable housing’s impact on us all. Join us in celebrating Donald Gilmore, Executive Director at Community Housing Development Corporation, and NPH Board Member!  

Under Donald’s leadership, CHDC has completed over 1500 units for affordable rental and homeownership. As CHDC’s first executive director, Don has built the organization from an all-volunteer staff to nearly 50 employees with a variety of services and programs. Most recently, under Don’s leadership, CHDC has added business lines in real estate brokerage services, with a focus on affordability for first time buyers which includes special lending and down payment assistance funding.

Mr. Gilmore joined the NPH Board in 2021 and continues to be a valued member of the Board.  Thank you for your work as an NPH Board Member, Don!

8/21, The Partnership - Affordable Housing Electrification 201: Planning, Operations, and Maintenance California Housing Partnership’s 201 session will focus on practical planning for decarbonization of affordable housing properties. We will feature case studies, developer experiences and energy analysis. This session will also discuss post-construction considerations for operations and maintenance of new all-electric technologies.

10/15, Housing Trust SV - 25th Anniversary Investor Briefing Join Housing Trust Silicon Valley at the California Theatre in San Jose for an evening of connection and inspiration. This event will start with a networking reception, then move into a program with housing leaders, hear incredible stories of our impact, and get a look ahead at the challenges and opportunities for the next 25 years.
