Last month, Republicans in Congress joined Trump to pass their Big (Ugly) Bill.
This disastrous bill will kick almost 17 million Americans off their healthcare plans. It’s a huge step backward in a country that already struggles to do right by its own people when it comes to healthcare.
In almost every other advanced economy in the world, healthcare is a right. It’s guaranteed regardless of who you are or how much money you have.
But in America — the richest nation in the history of the world — we let thousands of people die and tens of thousands more go broke every year because they can’t afford care.
And more than that, we spend far more on health care than every other developed nation while providing less care for people and having worse health outcomes. It’s a disgrace and a human rights catastrophe.
Now, there has been a lot of debate for a long time on how to fix this problem. But the solution comes down to one idea, and it’s not a new one: Medicare for All.
Medicare-for-All does away with the tangled web of private insurance companies that serves only to line the pockets of CEOs and billionaire investors and replaces it with a universal approach that covers all Americans under Medicare, the most successful healthcare program the US has ever seen.
Tired of co-pays, deductibles, and premiums? Under Medicare-for-All you would have none.
Tired of sitting on hold with insurance companies, going back and forth over charges, only to get your coverage claims denied? Medicare-for-All would end that once and for all.
Tired of finding a promising provider for your health care needs only to learn that they’re not in your network? Medicare-for-All would cover every provider, everywhere.
As many are wondering what the Democratic Party stands for and how we can win back the trust of the American people in the Trump era, I can’t think of a better issue to put front and center than finally tackling our inhumane healthcare system with universal, affordable, and accessible coverage for all.
This is a problem that affects almost everyone, and polls show that Americans are ready to support big ideas to solve it.
So if you’re with me in the fight for a more healthy and prosperous future, I am asking for your support today:
Chip in to my campaign as we continue to push for Medicare-for-All and a future where everyone gets the healthcare they deserve. This is one of the most important fights of the 21st century, and we must win.

I often say that America doesn’t suffer from scarcity, we suffer from greed. We can and should provide quality healthcare for all, just like they do in dozens of countries around the world. The question is whether or not our leaders have what it takes to stand up to the greed of private health insurance and create a truly universal system for all.
In solidarity,
Ilhan Omar
