Friend —
This is Katy, Executive Director of the Washington Senate Democratic Campaign (WSDC). Now that Deb Krishnadasan is through the primary, I wanted to update you on the state of the race and our path to victory.
State of the Race
Over the past few months, Michelle Caldier, the Republican Party, and right-wing special interests have thrown the kitchen sink at Senator Deb Krishnadasan—spending over $650,000 on countless misleading and absurd attacks. Despite being outspent 2-to-1, Deb was essentially tied with Caldier in initial results. Now, after two weeks of counting votes, Deb is up by 1,158 votes.
That’s bad for Caldier, and a clear sign that voters in the 26th legislative district are fed up with her prioritizing special interests over the community. Deb is entering the general election with momentum, focused on bringing people together and getting big things done for Kitsap and Pierce counties.
Path to Victory
Deb and her team have been out in the field nonstop. Between Deb, campaign staff, and volunteers, the campaign has already knocked on more than 16,000 doors in the 26th district. They plan to talk to just as many voters in the months leading up to the general election. Deb is taking the time to listen to neighbors’ ideas and concerns and walking every part of the district that she can, because she cares about the people of the 26th district. The way she’ll win this race is by staying rooted in the community.
Not every door is accessible, so we have to reach people with some amount of paid advertising. In the primary election, voters were inundated with countless misleading and absurd attacks on Deb —in their mailboxes, on their TVs, and directly to their cell phones. These messages confused voters and tried to drown out Deb’s positive, forward-looking message. We know with a race this close, the Republicans will only double down on their efforts to misinform voters and twist Deb’s record. We’ll need to match them dollar for dollar to ensure voters hear the truth about Deb’s work on affordability, healthcare access, and better schools.
That’s where you come in: Deb is going to need to raise at least another $250,000 before November 4th. The general election contribution limit is $1,200, but donations of any size will help Deb cover the costs of voter outreach she needs to win this election. Can you help Deb build on the incredible momentum she built in the primary and keep this swing seat blue? [[link removed]]
Thank you for your support,
Katy Ozog
