Dear Friend,
A decorated Austin police officer is facing prison…for doing his job.
Officer Chris Taylor stopped a knife-wielding man from stabbing him and his fellow officers in a crowded apartment building. He saved lives. And now he’s been convicted of a crime.
That’s why I’m asking you: please donate today to help fund Chris’s appeal.
How did a hero copy end up with a criminal conviction?
On July 31, 2019, panicked residents dialed 9-1-1 as a deranged man roamed their high-rise with a massive knife, terrifying everyone in his path.
When Officer Chris Taylor and his fellow officers confronted him, they were ambushed by the worst possible scenario: trapped in a tight hallway, the suspect less than six feet away, blade in hand.
Officers shouted for him to drop the weapon. Instead, he turned and came straight toward them. In that instant, Chris had no way out. It was life or death.
He did what any trained officer would do—he acted in self-defense and stopped the threat before innocent lives were lost.
The Austin Police Department cleared him of any wrongdoing. That should have been the end of it.
But in 2021, Soros-backed District Attorney José Garza dug up the case and indicted Chris for murder. And last October, after years of stress and uncertainty, a jury convicted him of “deadly conduct.” He’s now serving a two-year sentence.
