We had to make a really tough decision this week, and we’d like to tell you about it. Do you have a minute?
We told you yesterday that we are going up with a $500,000 advertising campaign in Virginia, to support Abigail Spanberger. We spent a lot of time working on that ad so that it speaks directly to the moderates and center left folks (many of them Veterans) that we’re going to need to turn out for Abigail.
We think it could move the needle. But deciding on the content wasn’t the hard part.
The issue is that our fundraising has dropped dramatically in the months since Trump came into office. Honestly, we weren’t sure we’d be able to cover the cost of this campaign and meet the rest of our obligations this year.
But we came together as a team, and we decided to greenlight that ad. Abigail has to win this race, and we’re going to do whatever we can to help.
Now, we made that decision because this team has always stepped up in the past when we’ve asked, when we’ve really needed it. We’re hoping that by being this honest with you, you’ll consider chipping in to help us close the gaps in our budget — and prepare more ads in more races that will move voters and decide elections.
