** Labor Day Plans and August Saturdays
------------------------------------------------------------
We have finalized our plans for Labor Day: Monday, September 1. We ended up letting our partners in federal and local unions lead on the planning, and they decided on two consecutive events.

To be clear, we are not leading planning on either event as we had to withdraw from planning due to time constraints. However, we are confident both events will be safe and inspiring. We will send out event and safety information the day before as usual.

9:30 AM at 450 Golden Gate: Federal Employees Labor Day Rally ([link removed]) with National Active & Retired Federal Employees, National Treasury Employees Union, American Postal Workers Union, and the American Federation of Government employees. We will be tabling and helping with organization for this event. If you’d like to help as an event marshal, please fill out this form ([link removed]) .

11 AM at 16th & Mission: Labor Day Rally And March ([link removed]) with SF Labor Council, Service Employees International Union, United Educators of San Francisco and more. This event gathers at the 16th & Mission BART station and marches to Dolores Park. This march urgently needs volunteers: sign up via their form ([link removed]) .

While you’re waiting for Labor Day, join one of our smaller events every Saturday in August. So far, our small events have been really successful.

Saturday, August 23: Craft in Community at 12 PM at the West Portal SFPL branch. We’re inviting families with kids (ages 6-11) to join us on Saturday, August 23, at the West Portal branch of the San Francisco Public Library for a hands-on, kid-friendly collage project! RSVP here. ([link removed])

Saturday, August 30: How to Organize and Run Your Own Protest Training, 3-5 PM at 518 Valencia St. We want more people doing more protests—and we want to share our knowledge of how to put on the safest, most effective protests you can. Space is limited, so reserve a ticket on Eventbrite ([link removed]) for this free event.

Bookmark our Labor Day 2025 ([link removed]) page and check back for more events and more details. And share it with like-minded people you know who are itching to get back in the streets.

ICE is harming our families. We need your help!
------------------------------------------------------------
ICE is in our communities right now, doing untold harm. We have heard about several families here in the city who have lost breadwinners, even some whose abducted family members are citizens. These families are struggling to get by. Our friends at CANA ([link removed]) (you may know them from our beautiful new event space), who do a lot of community support and outreach, are asking us to amplify their fundraiser for these families.

Donate ([link removed]) to immigrant families affected by ICE abductions, and spread the word.

** Support Trader Joe Union's Stand Against ICE and Tell Corporate to Get On Board
------------------------------------------------------------

Trader Joe’s United, the union of Trader Joe’s crew members, has come out against ICE and is working to protect their members and other workers. They have committed to the statement that ICE is not welcome in their workplaces without a warrant, and they are wearing anti-ICE pins.

Now Trader Joe’s management is threatening to retaliate and silence them. This is one situation where you can apply the One Million Rising pillar of holding corporations to account by speaking out and threatening to withhold your dollars.

Email the Trader Joe’s union in support, and call Trader Joe’s corporate headquarters to demand they protect their employees from ICE. Use our webpage for call scripts. ([link removed])

** Tell State Reps: Put Fair Tax in Transit Measure
------------------------------------------------------------

Bay Area transit agencies need an infusion of cash to continue functioning. SB 63 is a bill in the legislature that would put a regional tax measure on the ballot to fund public transit. But SB 63 would raise the money through a sales tax. Voters know that's regressive, i.e. takes a greater percentage of income from low-income than high-income earners. It is also hard on small businesses.

Transit and justice advocates want a Gross Receipts Tax charging each business a small percentage on revenue above $5 billion. Only about the top 2% of businesses would pay anything.

Contact Sen Wiener and and your Assemblymember in support of amending SB 63 to generate revenue through a Gross Receipts Tax, not a sales tax. Use our webpage for the call scripts. ([link removed])

** Companies Complicit in the MAGA Regime
------------------------------------------------------------

Those of you who’ve taken Indivisible’s One Million Rising training know the importance of destabilizing the pillars of the regime. One of those pillars is corporate complicity.

With the Department of Homeland Security and ICE in the vanguard, it’s easy to overlook the hundreds of companies—some household names—serving their supply lines. These companies hide in the shadows; for some it’s because of their hypocrisy, as their complicity betrays their stated values of diversity, inclusion, and community; for others, they would simply rather feed their greed, destroy human life, and lie with impunity.

These companies and their federal contracts are public record, yet our media too often fails to publicize the blood money flowing into their coffers. The Media Accountability, Balance and Protection (MAB+) team is picking up the slack with this week’s accounting of corporate contracts supporting the regime’s brutality.

** NEW ROLES: Want to help us do this work?
------------------------------------------------------------

We will plug you in where your skills can do the most good to resist this administration.

If you would like to join and do important work with us, we welcome you! Currently we are in need of volunteers to help with the following:

* Making artwork for our calls to action, blog posts, and other projects.
* Maintaining our website, newsletter and Zoom account
* Joining and building out an on-the ground flyering team. We’re looking to distribute information on our events in the real world. We want people who can print and post flyers around their neighborhood. It’s a great way to get your steps in.
* Publishing our newsletter with MailChimp on Newsletter Night (Tuesdays at 5 PM).
* Making short-form videos to help educate people on our topics in an accessible way.
* Tracking federal, state, and local legislation and working with our state and local legislatures and Mayor Lurie.

No experience is needed; we will train you and provide everything you need. If you would like to help us, please contact us at [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) .

Check out our Events page for upcoming protests, trainings and more! ([link removed])
