Texas Rep. Nicole Collier did something courageous: she said NO.

When Texas Republicans demanded that she sign a so-called "permission slip" to leave the Capitol — backed by 24/7 state trooper surveillance — she refused. She wouldn't surrender her dignity. She wouldn't pretend this was normal.

So they punished her.

Rep. Collier was forced to sleep on the House floor. And GOP leaders, backed by Trump, cheered as they held an elected official hostage simply for standing up to an extremist power grab. This is authoritarianism, plain and simple.

Republicans are redrawing the maps to lock in minority rule for a generation. And when Democrats resist? They unleash the state to intimidate, surveil, and silence.

This fight isn't just in Texas. It's in every district where GOP bullies think they can trample democracy without a fight.
