According to the Virginia Mercury, of the 86 non-incumbents running statewide, 41 are women. And, it gets better: a majority of the anti-choice incumbents we’re trying to unseat are being challenged by pro-choice, progressive women.
With Virginia being the last southern state without abortion restrictions, electing pro-choice women in November is critical.
To pass a constitutional amendment, both chambers of the state legislature must approve the ballot measure twice, separated by an election. With your help, we got through the first hurdle, and Democrats approved the amendment for the first time earlier this year with no Republican support.
