Fellow activist, time is running out to ensure that the GOP anti-retention campaign fails.
Concerning the upcoming elections, a Republican political consultant stated: “This is a political consultant’s dream, because your message is just one thing, and that’s ‘No.’”
As a reminder, three PA Supreme Court justices, elected as Democrats, are trying to keep their seats after their ten-year terms. On Election Day, voters in PA will decide by voting "yes” or “no" on whether to retain these justices in non-partisan elections. If MAGA succeeds with their anti-retention campaign, the PA Supreme Court could have three vacancies until the Governor can appoint and confirm their replacements—which is unlikely, as this would require support from Republicans in the PA Senate—or until the next judicial election in 2027.
Republicans see these judicial elections as their best chance to reverse our Democratic majority on the PA Supreme Court and establish a MAGA-controlled court. As Metro Philadelphia has reported, this would have a drastic impact on the future of PA by paving the way for drastically different judicial decisions. “Many of the court’s recent election-related rulings were made on narrow 4-3 votes that could swing differently if the composition of the court changes.”
State supreme courts impact everything from voting rights to reproductive rights, environmental protections, redistricting, and much more. Their work is critical – which is why the GOP is working overtime to replace Democrat-elected justices ahead of the 2026 presidential elections and why we need to ensure that voters in PA understand what’s at stake.
With just over 2 months until Election Day, we need to ensure we can fully fund our critical Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) door-knocking program. Will you help us prepare to launch our efforts to turn voters out to the polls by donating $25 or more today?
