Good Morning from Capitol Hill.

As you’ve surely read and heard, President Trump has called up the National Guard to support the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and other public safety services in arresting crime ([link removed]) in Washington, D.C. Who could object to reducing crime, cleaning up the vagrants, and restoring order to our national city? This DOJ employee demonstrated ([link removed]) his unwillingness to control his emotions.

Surprisingly, there have been many ([link removed]) on the left ([link removed]) trying to convince Americans that they should actually tolerate a sustained level of crime because it’s a city and well, that’s how cities are. Look no further than to the responses ([link removed]) to Rachel Bovard’s X post about the visible decline of the city.

The President’s actions are not illegal ([link removed]) nor are they destroying the Constitution ([link removed]) as many on the left have said. Conservatives, by contrast, have been applauding these actions and saying if the President succeeds, it will be a huge blow to Liberal run cities. Sean Davis, CEO of The Federalist said this ([link removed]) on Jesse Waters Primetime: “I think one thing Democrats are concerned about is if Donald Trump is able to clean up D.C., certainly if he’s able to do it under 30 days, then it shows that there’s no excuse for these other cities like L.A. and Chicago and Detroit and Philadelphia to be crime ridden hellscapes.”

While pundits on the left have tried to minimize and trivialize crime in D.C., it was discovered that the stats many of them were citing may have been manipulated by the MPD. According to reports ([link removed]) , “So, instead of taking a report for a shooting or a stabbing or a carjacking, they will order that officer to take a report for a theft or an injured person to the hospital or a felony assault, which is not the same type of classification.” In other words, there are widespread reports about the MPD “juking” the crime states for more favorable results.

America First Legal ([link removed]) has “launched an investigation to uncover the truth behind alarming allegations that the leadership of the MPD manipulated crime statistics to mislead the American public about the true state of affairs in our nation’s capital.” The Department of Justice ([link removed]) is also investigating. It would be great for the citizens of Washington, visitors to their nation’s capital, and the country if D.C. can be cleaned up once and for all.
