I wanted to be sure you got my email from last week…

Tomorrow, Wednesday, August 20 , we’re partnering with our friends at the national League of Conservation Voters to host a public art installation to celebrate public lands and stand up to the ongoing actions from the Trump administration that threaten their very existence. Free, family-friendly, and happening from 12-6PM at Bug Light Park in South Portland , we’ll be unveiling two dozen handcrafted flags 🚩 🚩 made by the Maine Flag Company, representing Maine’s varied and iconic landscapes.

Did I mention there will be donuts🍩, coffee ☕, snacks 🥨, and DIY kite-making?

Conservation, public access, responsible land management… these are issues that are so important to so many Mainers. I hope you’ll join us tomorrow to stand up to these shortsighted and self-serving attacks on our shared heritage and birthright.

Public lands belong to us – not billionaires, developers, or corporate polluters.

Dear John,

Two summers ago, I spent a long weekend on Lake Mooselookmeguntic. It was a weekend filled with beautiful vistas of the Rangeley-Stratton mountain range, swims in clear, crisp lake water, late evenings with close friends, and long paddling trips around the lake.

It is thanks to efforts from local land trusts and state agencies, funded in part by federal dollars, that this place remains pristine and unspoiled by development. But, ongoing funding cuts to land management agencies and escalating threats to public lands from the Trump administration threaten Maine’s conservation efforts to preserve and protect the places that define our state and make it special to so many.

That is why next week, on Wednesday, August 20, Maine Conservation Voters will be partnering with the national League of Conservation Voters (LCV) to host a public art installation from 12-6pm at Bug Light Park in South Portland . The installation will feature two dozen handcrafted flags made by the Maine Flag Company, representing the state’s varied and iconic landscapes.

This event is free, family-friendly, and will feature DIY kite-making and flying for all ages. There will be food and refreshments available for attendees, too.
