John – it’s been a busy few months.
The primary season wrapped up here in Pennsylvania, and Matt officially has a Republican opponent. The minute the primary came to a close, Donald Trump, Jr. started fundraising for Matt’s new opponent AND the Washington Post declared this seat a “must-win” for the GOP. And all of that was on top of Matt’s critical work in Washington to help families and small businesses weather the COVID-19 crisis.
We are off to the races here in PA-08! With our opponent officially named, we’re ramping up our field and communications efforts to get Matt’s message out there. But first, we have to get through our most important fundraising deadline of the campaign so far.

In July, we have to report our fundraising numbers to the Federal Election Commission and they’ll become public. Reporters, elections analysts, and our opponents will search through them and see if we have the resources to keep PA-08 blue.
Because the primary is over and the general election match-up is set, we know that there will be increased attention on our numbers this quarter.
Everyone from GOP Super PACs to dark money billionaires will spend July combing through these reports to see where to drop their checks – we know a couple million in shady dark money is inevitable in this race, but it’s critically important that they don’t spot weakness and increase their investments as a result.
