In a time when so many of our rights are under threat, learning together is a powerful act of resistance. This August, we’re hosting a series of Back to School learning sessions — and you’re invited!

We’re getting started on Thursday, August 21 at 4:00pm ET with Dr. Destiny Huff. In the session Black, Brown, and Disabled: Unpacking Racialized Ableism in Education [[link removed]], Dr. Destiny Huff will talk about how racism and ableism hurt Black and Latine students with disabilities at school. Schools in the United States are more likely to punish, silence, and segregate Black and Latine students with disabilities. This discrimination against Black and Latine students with disabilities is racist and ableist. This presentation talks about how systemic racism and ableism in schools hurts multiply-marginalized students. From biased referrals to punishments that exclude them, students of color with disabilities face more barriers to access, inclusion and affirmation. Get your tickets today! [[link removed]]

All month long, we’ll be highlighting the power of community-led education. These sessions are designed to deepen our understanding, sharpen our skills, and prepare us to take action — whether in our neighborhoods or on the national stage. These sessions are a great way to support our work and help us in the fight ahead, all while deepening your advocacy skills! You can grab a ticket bundle for all three events here [[link removed]]! Your ticket directly supports ASAN’s mission and helps us continue to create accessible, community-led resources and programs.

It’s never too late to learn — and we learn best together. Whether you’re brand new to advocacy or a longtime organizer, this series will offer new ideas, strategies, and solidarity in a time when all three are urgently needed. We’re excited to get started with Black, Brown, and Disabled: Unpacking Racialized Ableism in Education [[link removed]] on Thursday, August 21 — and we hope you’ll join us.

The world isn’t easy right now. But in community, we learn. We grow. We fight back. And we build something better for all of us. This month is a celebration of our collective knowledge, our resilience, and our refusal to back down. As we fight for our rights, let’s take time to build the skills and community we need to do it. We can’t wait to learn with you! [[link removed]]
