Freedom of the press is fundamental to a functioning democracy. We cannot sit by while Donald Trump UNDERMINES our free press and threatens the very future of our democracy.
Please, team, will you join the Democratic Governors Association at this urgent moment and condemn Donald Trump's attacks on our free press and our democracy?
Team, this is URGENT: For years, Donald Trump has criticized the media and anyone who disagrees with him. But since taking office again in January, he’s trying to shut down any outlet that is critical of him.
Just take a look at what he's done:
* Cut $1.1 BILLION in public broadcasting funds to NPR and PBS stations, shuttering the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and meaning millions of Americans will LOSE access to free local news and other programming.
* Signed an executive order BANNING The Associated Press from the White House press pool for not saying “Gulf of America.”
* Sued multiple media outlets for their coverage of him, even filing a $10 billion defamation suit against the Wall Street Journal for publishing a story on a birthday card he reportedly sent to Jeffrey Epstein in 2003.
* Appointed his own lackey (and Project 2025 author), Brendan Carr, as head of the FCC to lead investigations into media outlets he’s sued.
Donald Trump is blatantly attempting to control the press. This is an attack on our democracy, and we won’t let it stand.
Right now, Democratic governors are our best defense against Trump's executive overreach and attacks on our rights. But they can’t do it alone. Please, join us now in speaking out against Donald Trump's attacks on freedom of the press. We're counting on 10,000 concerned Democrats to add their name by midnight tonight – including you, team.
