Abortion Pills are Safe
Anti-abortion leaders and organizations continue their attacks on abortion pills which includes mifepristone and misoprostol. But we won’t be fooled, abortion pills are safe and effective. The FDA approved the use of Mifepristone for abortions back in 2000. The World Health Organization has listed both mifepristone and misoprostol on their list of essential medications. As access to abortion dwindles in the United States, it’s more important than ever to know your choices. Learn more about the World Health Organization protocol for self-managed abortion with pills here.
Self-Care
Self-care is an intentional practice that roots us in the present despite the oppression we may face. Regular self-care is essential for sustainable and effective activism.
Here are our self-care tips for August:
-
Have dessert at lunch! How many times have you found yourself rushing through leftovers or a ~ convenience food ~ at your desk mid-day, without really feeling like you got some reset time to yourself? When I have the capacity, I've been taking a few extra minutes to enjoy a sweet-something with lunch (like a scoop of gelato, a piece of chocolate, or a cupcake) and it really makes my lunch break feel special and worthwhile. - Andrea, Senior Vice President of Research
-
Pick up a book! Whether it's a new cookbook or a familiar fantasy novel, reading is a great way to expand your horizons and connect with others. This can look like anything from swapping books with friends to listening to audio books with loved ones on long trips. Plus, it's a great excuse to support your local library! – Kieran, Sr. Strategic Director
-
Let your hands get messy! Lately, I've been getting into clay molding and shaping. It has been such a positive creative and therapeutic outlet. With some music in the background and the focus on creating, my stress fades away. Reconnecting with creativity is definitely worth exploring! -Jacqueline, Sr. Outreach Coordinator
