What’s happening in our nation’s capital is not just a local crisis — it’s an attack on basic civil rights. By unleashing the National Guard on residents and filling the streets with unwarranted military force, the president is sacrificing community care and safety for authoritarian control and surveillance. Black youth and other youth of color are being treated as criminals instead of children with dreams for their futures.
