Donald Trump has ordered an unprecedented federal takeover of D.C.'s Police Department. And now he's pouring in federal and National Guard troops -- primarily from deep red states like Mississippi and South Carolina, in an obvious effort to maximize tension. This is not about safety. DC crime rates are at a thirty year low, and falling. And the troops Trump is sending are not trained for fighting crime. Worse yet, he is diverting actual policing resources away from fighting crime for asinine ego projects like his parade. This is about power.
