Hi John,

As we close out the summer, I know many families in our district — especially in Moore County — are still dealing with the aftermath of Tropical Depression Chantal. The damage was severe, and recovery will take time. Please know that I’m working closely with Senator Tom McInnis and Representative Neal Jackson to make sure our communities get the support and resources they need.

This month’s update also brings encouraging news: North Carolina has once again been named America’s Top State for Business, and we’ve taken strong action in Raleigh to override several of Governor Stein’s vetoes.

As always, my door is open — if I can help you or your family in any way, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

At your service,
Ben

Representative Ben T. Moss, Jr.
North Carolina General Assembly

** TROPICAL DEPRESSION CHANTAL TOOK A TOLL ON MOORE COUNTY — WE’RE COMMITTED TO RECOVERY
------------------------------------------------------------

My heart goes out to the families, businesses, and communities in Moore County who are still recovering from the devastation caused by Tropical Depression Chantal. This was the worst flooding event our county has seen in nearly three decades, and the damage to homes, roads, dams, and businesses underscores just how destructive this storm was.

I have remained in close contact with Senator Tom McInnis and Representative Neal Jackson, and together we are committed to ensuring that Moore County has the resources needed to recover and rebuild. I want to especially thank our first responders, public utilities crews, health officials, and neighbors who stepped up during and after the storm — from performing swift water rescues to helping families get back on their feet.

As county and state leaders assess long-term needs, it’s clear that we must address our aging infrastructure so our communities are better prepared for future storms. My office stands ready to assist residents navigating this recovery and to advocate for every bit of state support that Moore County deserves.

** NORTH CAROLINA FOR THE WIN! 🏆
------------------------------------------------------------
We have again been named America’s Top State for Business by CNBC — a result of strong leadership, a skilled workforce, and pro-growth policies. I’m proud to be part of the NC General Assembly that’s fighting for jobs, infrastructure, and economic opportunity — especially in our rural communities.

** VETO OVERRIDE VOTES
------------------------------------------------------------

I’m proud to report that we have overridden EIGHT of Governor Stein’s vetoes in the NC House — moving these important policies forward:

🔐 SB 416 ([link removed]) – Personal Privacy Protection Act
📚 SB 254 ([link removed]) – Charter School Changes
👩‍👧‍👦 HB 805 ([link removed]) – Prevent Sexual Exploitation of Women & Minors
🔍 HB 549 ([link removed]) – Clarify State Auditor Powers
💰 HB 402 ([link removed]) – Limit Rules with Big Costs
🚔 HB 318 ([link removed]) – Criminal Illegal-Alien Enforcement Act
🇺🇸 HB 193 ([link removed]) – Firearm Law Revisions
& More!

These new laws strengthen accountability, protect kids, and keep more money in your pocket. I’m proud to fight for every working family in the Sandhills and across North Carolina.
